About Mark and Mark

"The love of sailing infuses every single catamaran we build – and we are a truly great British brand".

Mark Elliot

Mark Elliot created Broadblue Catamarans in 2001, the realisation of a long held ambition. A sailor since early childhood, skillfully taught by his father John, founder of the renowned IBTC, International Boatbuilding & Training Centre, Marks passion for the sea became his profession when aged 16 he joined the Merchant Navy to train as a Navigator. Seven years, and as many circumnavigations later, he left the Navy to start his own business, The English Cabinet Company, designing, manufacturing and retailing fine handmade furniture. It was the gradual establishment of this £multimillion  furniture business and dedicated British factory that finally allowed Mark the opportunity to combine his interests.

Whilst buying his second Prout catamaran, he sensed that the company was in trouble, and soon realised that a business opportunity was staring him in the face.  Very soon, three members of the ex-Prout management team were invited to help him to create a brand new company, Broadblue Catamarans.

Mark built Broadblue into a recognisable brand which he (rather reluctantly) sold in February 2007, so that he could concentrate on his other business, now renamed Mark Elliot Furniture which he subsequently sold in July 2010.

Mark Jarvis

Mark Jarvis has had a distinguished career in Production Engineering. He joined Westland Helicopters as a graduate, working in their advanced composite department developing carbon fibre applications for safety critical aircraft compounds. Mark then joined the renowned automotive engineering consultancy Ricardo, ultimately managing their advanced special vehicle facility, working on projects for leading car manufacturers.

Following key management positions in major electronics companies T-Mobile and Vodafone he finally combined professional experience and personal interest and in 2002 joined European Multihull Specialist, Multihull World as Managing Director. Multihull World was soon to be appointed as the UK agents for Broadblue Catamarans, and rapidly became their most successful dealer.

In March 2009, fate finally determined that Mark and Mark should unite forces and buy Broadblue, which was unexpectedly for sale once more, following a difficult and challenging period for the company which almost led to its untimely demise.

Today, Broadblue is revitalised and regenerated, with a healthy order book and an established business network – not to mention a healthy fan base. And two years on both Directors, lifelong sailors both, are absolutely committed to the renewed success of Broadblue.
